Listing a book

What a Work is

On BooksOasis, a book listing is called a Work. It holds the core details that stay true across every format you sell it in: title, subtitle, description, contributors, category, and an optional series placement. Once the Work exists, you add one or more Editions to it, the actual ebook, paperback, or hardcover formats readers can buy.

The core fields

• Title and subtitle, exactly as they'll appear on the book's page.
• Description, the blurb readers see before buying.
• Category, which places the book in the right part of the catalog.
• Series placement, optional, if this book belongs to a series you've set up.

Adding contributors

A Work can credit more than one person, each in a specific role: author, co-author, editor, or illustrator. Add every contributor who should appear in the book's byline, whether that's a solo author credit or a full team on an illustrated title.

Attaching editions

A title on its own isn't sellable yet, it needs at least one edition: ebook, paperback, or hardcover, each with its own price. Print editions have extra requirements around trim size, page count, and file specifications. The full walkthrough for that is in the editions and print-readiness guide.

Submitting for review

Before a book goes live, it's submitted for moderation review. An admin looks it over and can approve and publish it, ask you for changes first, or, if something comes up after it's already live, suspend or remove it. This review step applies to every book, it's not something you can skip.
