Privacy for publishers
Last updated September 2026. What we collect when you publish on BooksOasis, how we use it and the choices you have. Readers are covered by the reader privacy policy.
1. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password.
- Identity details: your legal name, date of birth and country, needed before you publish so we can confirm you are 18 or over and pay you correctly. Never shown to readers.
- Payout details: the bank or PayPal details you add to receive earnings. Stored encrypted and only opened by our team to send a payout.
- Pen names and imprints: the author and publisher names you create. These are public on your books; the account behind them is not.
- Your books: manuscripts, print files, covers, descriptions and other details you upload.
- Billing: your plan and payment history. Card details are handled by our payment providers; we never store full card numbers.
- Usage data: basic technical data such as IP address and browser, used to keep the service secure.
2. How we use it
- To run your account, review and publish your books, and show them to readers.
- To bill your plan and pay your earnings.
- To print and ship print editions: your print files go to our print partner for each order.
- To send you account, review, sale and payout emails.
- To prevent fraud, abuse and breaches of our Publisher Terms.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the service: payment providers (for plan payments and payouts), our print partner (print files for each order), service providers such as file storage and email delivery, and authorities where the law requires it.
4. Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is open, and sales, payout and tax records for as long as the law requires, even after a book or account is removed.
6. Your choices and rights
You can update your profile, pen names and payout details in your dashboard. To get a copy of your data, correct it or close your account, email support@booksoasis.com. If you are in the EU, UK or California you may have extra rights under GDPR or the CCPA; the same address applies.
7. Changes
If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
